Electrochemical redox treatment of denitrification in coastal secondary effluent using Ti/IrO2 anode

In northern coastal industrial park, inlet of the wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) had characteristics low carbon source and high chloride ion concentration, which resulted in its poor biodegradability. this case, experiment explored an electrochemistral method to remove nitrogen. Cathodic potential, Ti/IrO2 was confirmed as anode − 1.6 V taken potential order nitrate-N. The findings include: when initial 2000 3000 mg/L, effect on removal difference nitrogen slight. When electrolysis time 60 min, ammonia-N removed completely, nitrite-N concentration kept 1 mg/L approximately. efficiency went up with increasing cathodic completely different water samples, but nitrate-N showed opposite result. production amount least at V. As pH increased, nitrate-N’s first then down, best being 9, Nitrite-N less influenced by pH. After optimizing raw sample, Nitrate-N TN were significantly almost constant.
